Make a wish and take a bite

I remember seeing Prada's Spring 2011 RTW and loving the bold colors, minimal lines, and pairing of stripes with cartoonish-like banana prints. Still, I didn't really go bananas for it, not like I did for Stella McCartney's citrus mix from the same Spring 2011, and not just because of the fresh print, but mostly because of its realistic details, just add water dropplets to anything and I'm hokked.

Yet I didn't think fruit will start to bloom into such generous and attractive fashion theme for this Spring. If mouthwatering prints weren't enough, editorials and ads featuring fruit of a variety of colors and origins have been pilling up. Bulgari pairs their high-end jewelry with delicious looking fruit in a campaign by Guido Mocafico. And a huge strawberry is part of the background of one of Céline's shots for Spring 2011, as photographed by Juergen Teller.

It seems that trend-wise nothing could go better and that the only thing that could and would put a stop to my fruit madness is the end of the season. But then I remembered something else: a 2007 Vogue Paris editorial shot by the amazing Thomas Lagrange, or otherwise known as the galore of fruit being squashed by hands wearing exquisite rings. This is not only a luscious, succulent editorial, but it is the editorial that reminded me how trends come and go. And come back again.
